1️⃣0️⃣9️⃣ Memes for Etoposided Teens πŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚πŸ‘Œ

Memes are my coping mechanism. If you’ve ever seen me laughing to myself in class, it’s probably due to one of very few reasons:
  1. I’m running on a few minutes of sleep so everything’s kinda funny
  2. The lecturer genuinely has a good sense of humor
  3. What the lecturer just said inspired me to make a meme about it
So what goes into the process of coming up with and executing a Course 20 meme? Well, I’m no expert myself (Kristen F. ‘18 and Melody T. ‘20 are though), but here are a few of my pointers:
  • Having a deep understanding of Spongebob helps.
  • Familiarize yourself with the meme formats!
  • Exercise your creativity by challenging yourself to apply a particular meme format into any situation you come across. This will get you into the habit of seeing parallels between ideas and it’s an extremely helpful learning strategy as well! You’ll find yourself connecting class concepts to memes and other parts of your life automatically.
  • You don’t need Photoshop to make memes. I just use the Google Docs image editing tool.
  • Making memes about my woes are easy subjects, but it’s important to not be too self-deprecating—respect yourself ❤️
Are making memes an effective use of time? Well, it depends. But if they make me more excited and engaged with a subject, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. And if I can use the things that make me happy to make other people happy too, all the more reason to meme on.

I’ll leave a couple of memes I’ve made. And if you haven’t already, you should join the Course 20 Memes for Bioengineering Teens Facebook page (founded by Kristen).
