Happy Easter!
Walking downstairs this morning, I ran into these notes which my mom taped above our stairs. It brightened up my day, so I wanted to pass it along!
Journal Club Presentation
Overall, I was able to learn a lot through this journal club presentation. One of my main takeaways was how to determine which figures to use in the presentation. While some figures were important to the experimental results, they were not necessarily relevant to the main takeaways of the study. I also learned how important it is to clean up figures to make then more appropriate/clear for a presentation (I ended up cropping, labeling, and shuffling up the order of figures more than I originally anticipated).
Research Article
Working on my research article, the thing that I have spent the most time on/struggled most with is the data analysis in R. While it’s a lot to absorb right now and has caused a lot of frustration, I am glad for the exposure because R seems like one of the most common ways to analyze biological data.
As I begin writing my research article, I want to focus on clarity and highlighting how each component related back to the main message. In the BEComm lab presentation, they mentioned that the amount of time you spend talking about a topic/figure/finding should be determined by its importance, not the amount of time you spent on it. Keeping this in consideration will help me better present each component of my article.
