Journal club reflection
Journal club is over! Which is a relief, because it was a struggle. However, I feel like I learned a lot from this assignment. Probably my biggest takeaway was not to get too bogged down in the details, which was probably the biggest challenge for me. When I was first trying to read the paper, I would stop every time I came across something I wasn't familiar with to look it up, which was basically every other sentence. This made it harder for me to see the bigger picture at first, especially since the paper talked about various different metabolic pathways that weren't necessarily related to each other.
Paring down the number of figures was the next challenge, although I ended up using the topics covered in the Discussion section as a guide for what was important. During the presentation, I still struggled not to go into too much detail and balance explaining the figures well with tying it back to the main idea. Overall, I think it could still use some work, but at least I know what to work on next time.
