Presenting and Scientific Literature

Hello,

As Module 2 is wrapping up, I've had some time to think about some take aways so far. Coming back into the whole swing of school after the two week long spring break felt a bit awkward, but nonetheless positive. On one hand, the material has always been interesting. Browsing the relevant literature to my paper was my favorite part, just as I have always enjoyed learning class material in general. Specifically, its satisfying to learn some general information and then fill more specific details into the parts I find interesting or don't grasp well. I got to experience this with the journal club presentation, however compiling all the information into some presentable entity has always been the most daunting, nonetheless important, step.

Module 2 definitely helped me break down these previously distinct steps into one process. I've always heard that being able to present/teach information helps you learn it better. I've always agreed but it seemed that in the same amount of time spent in preparing information to present, I could have learned more elsewhere. I had this realization that if you cannot present the information that you know, what is the point of learning it in the first place. The research paper is another opportunity to do so, hopefully more fluid than the last presentation.
