Thoughts from Home

To start off on a positive note, being at home has allowed me to rediscover a lot of my hobbies! I picked up instruments I hadn’t touched since high school, painted, made macarons, and played soccer. My sister’s boredom is at an all-time high (she’s a high-school senior who hasn’t had school for four weeks now), so she’s found increasingly “creative” ways to keep occupied – first by feeding the squirrels in our yard, and more recently by making them picnic tables:

I’m a hands-on and visual learner, so moving to classes online has been difficult.  I especially miss the web lab portion of 20.109 and find it hard to concentrate sitting at my desk for the entire day. I wish that all our work didn’t involve staring at a computer, and that there was some sort of physical project to build.

To reflect on the Data Summary, I found the experience very positive overall. I really appreciated receiving regular, detailed feedback on our homework to help us improve our communication skills. I enjoyed playing with PowerPoint to create figures and thinking through any unexpected results. The Communication Lab was most helpful for editing figure captions, and I’m glad we have it as a resource moving forward.
